Allyson Felix
Allyson Michel Felix was born on November 18, 1985, in Los Angeles. Her father Paul Felix was an ordained minister at the Master's Seminary in Sun Valley as well as her mother Marlean Felix was a school teacher at Balboa Magnet Elementary School. Felix realized early on that she was gifted to run when she was a student at Los Angeles Baptist High School. After a few weeks of the first time she tried out her skills, she placed second for 200m in the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championship. Felix agreed to sign a contract with Adidas for a career in professional sports with Adidas in 2003, and later enrolled in University of Southern California to pursue a degree in elementary education. Felix took home her first Olympic medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics held in Athens Greece. Felix set the Junior World Record running 200 metres in 22.18 seconds. Felix was also the youngest winner of the 200 meters in the world championships that took place in Helsinki in the year 2005. She defended her title the following year, defeating time-tested Jamaican rival Veronica Campbell. Felix was a regular competitor in Beijing, London Rio de Janeiro, and Tokyo. She was consistently in the top three of every event.
